CLS Major Publishes Article on Private Prisons

Vicky Rivera is a Criminology, Law and Society major and intelligence analysis minor (class of 2016) who completed a summer internship with the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Community-Oriented Policing Services (COPS).  She assisted the Research and Development Division with several projects, including the School Resource Officer pilot training program and the Attorney General's Award for Distinguished Service in Community Policing ceremony and reception, in addition to researching and writing an article on private prisons published in the December issue of the COPS online newsletter, the Community Policing Dispatch.  She is interested in policy making and criminal justice reform to provide more fair outcomes in the justice process.  Vicky plans to continue at Mason for graduate studies.
