Johnson Center Cinema to Show "Living for 32"

On Thursday April 28th at 4:30 p.m., the Department of Criminology, Law and Society and the Film and Media Studies program will show Living for 32 in the Johnson Center Cinema. The screening will be followed by a question and answer session with the subject of the film, Colin Goddard, and his father, Andy Goddard.

Living for 32 recounts the tragic mass shootings at Virginia Tech on April 16, 2007, that cost 32 students and faculty their lives. Their families and the many others who were physically injured and psychologically traumatized by the massacre are on a life-long journey of recovery. This 40-minute documentary explores the courageous journey to recovery for Colin Goddard, who was shot four times in his French class.

Colin is now Assistant Director of Legislative Affairs at the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, and his father Andy Goddard is President of the Richmond chapter of the Brady Campaign.

This film is of great interest to anyone who’s concerned with campus safety, emergency preparedness and response, recovery from trauma, social activism and the gun control public policy debate. Living for 32 was shown at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and is now making a national tour of universities, film festivals and other venues.

This event is free and open to the public.
