If you are pursuing the MA thesis concentration and are a full-time student, you will complete a thesis during your second year in the program. Be sure to attend the Thesis Workshop offered by departmental faculty each fall semester to learn more about the thesis process and receive useful advice about how to begin and complete your research.
Step 1: Identify a thesis topic and select a faculty committee. Submit MA Form #1 to the Graduate Director.
Step 2: Enroll in CRIM 799: Thesis Credits. You must submit MA Form #2 to the Graduate Director prior to the start of the semester in which you first enroll in CRIM 799. Students finalize their thesis proposal and complete their thesis while enrolled in CRIM 799.
Step 3: Schedule a Thesis Defense. Once you have completed your thesis research and have received approval from your committee to move forward, you must schedule a thesis defense. All members of the committee must be present at the defense.
