Congratulations to criminology, law and society doctoral student Talley Bettens! She has received a 2024 Mentoring Excellence Award from Mason's Office of Scholarship, Creative Activities, and Research (OSCAR).

Jin R. Lee, Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminology, Law and Society at George Mason University, has been appointed to serve on the Committee on Cybercrime Classification and Measurement by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM).

The assistant professor of Criminology, Law and Society will be honored at a March 7 event in Richmond, with 11 other state educators recognized as outstanding faculty by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia.

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is proud to honor Max Milien, Jr., BS Law Enforcement '90, with the 2023 Distinguished Alumni Award - Criminology, Law and Society. Max Milien, Jr., has been a special agent with the United States Secret Service for 29 years.

Data mining website ScholarGPS ranked David Weisburd, Distinguished Professor of Criminology, Law and Society and Executive Director of Mason's Center for Evidence-Based Crime Policy, seventh overall in lifetime research achievement in the areas of criminology and criminal justice.

Victoria A. Greenfield, a Faculty Affiliate in the Department of Criminology, Law and Society, was awarded the 2023 European Society of Criminology Book Award for her book Assessing the Harms of Crime: A New Framework for Criminal Policy (co-authored with Letizia Paoli, 2022, Oxford University Press).

The award recognizes an established academic/researcher who has made outstanding contributions to the field of policing. Kiesong Kuen, doctoral candidate in the Department of Criminology, Law and Society, also received a 2023 ASC Award—the Outstanding Student Article Award.

CLS doctoral candidate Kiseong Kuen received the 2023 Outstanding Student Article Award from the American Society of Criminology's Division of Policing for his article titled "What Makes Police Officers Resist Research and Evidence-Based Policing? Examining the Role of Organizational and Environmental Factors."

CLS student Sydney Reuter received second place for her submission to the American Psychology-Law Society's Award for Best Undergraduate Paper.
