Doctoral Funding

Current PhD students fund their graduate studies in several ways. Many doctoral students are supported by Graduate Research or Teaching Assistantships provided by the department or by faculty working on sponsored research projects. Others receive nationally-competitive research assistantships, fellowships, and scholarships from organizations like the National Institute of Justice or the National Science Foundation. Some PhD students attend school part-time while working at Mason or elsewhere.

The department also supports doctoral student travel to research conferences and summer fellowships on a competitive basis.
