CLS major Karlie Berry receives OSCAR Student Excellence Award

This spring, Criminology, law and society major Karlie Berry was honored with an OSCAR Student Excellence Award, which recognizes outstanding undergraduate students who participate in research and creative activities. Karlie received her award at the 7th annual OSCAR Celebration of Student Scholarship on May 8th, 2018.

As part of her Mason experience, Karlie worked closely with Dr. Danielle Rudes (Criminology, Law and Society), Dr. Angela Hattery (Women & Gender Studies), and doctoral student Shannon Magnuson (Criminology, Law and Society) on their project, Together Alone: Living and Working in Restricted Housing Units.  With research partner Liz Rosen, Karlie explored how inmates in solitary confinement perceive punishment.
