Two CLS Students Recognized for CHSS Senior of the Year Award

Criminology, Law & Society senior Jordan Burkhardt is the 2019 recipient of the CHSS Senior of the Year Award and Jenniffer Andino Cruz was selected as runner-up.  This award honors a graduating senior from the college for their outstanding contributions in the areas of academic excellence, leadership, and service to the college, university, and community.

Throughout Jordan’s undergraduate career, she has demonstrated service to the university community and commitment to her education.  She is a Police Cadet, having been promoted to Cadet Sergeant.  She is also an Assistant Community Director within Housing and Residence Life and serves as a Peer Advocate within the Student Support and Advocacy Center.  This year, she has an internship with the Department of State.  Previously, she participated in the University of Oxford semester exchange where she conducted research on counterterrorism and victimization.  Jordan plans to graduate in Spring 2020.

Jenniffer has actively conducted research for the past three years.  Much of her research focuses on the Latino community. As part of the CLS honors program, Jenniffer explored the effect of context manipulation on the disclosure of false confessions based on gender.  She is actively involved in numerous campus organizations, including the Intelligence Community Club, Hispanic Student Association, and Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society.  Jenniffer plans to graduate in Fall 2019.

The Department congratulates both students on their successes at the university and their accomplishments during their undergraduate careers!

Jordan’s and Jenniffer’s accomplishments will be acknowledged during the CHSS Celebration of Achievement on Thursday, October 17th
