Olaghere Publishes Op-Ed on Importance of Prison Education

CLS doctoral student Ajima Olaghere worked with Professor Emerita of Sociology Natalie Sokoloff of the John Jay College of Criminal Justice and with Lecturer Blake Ethridge of Johns Hopkins University to address the issue of prison education in a recent op-ed published in the Baltimore Sun.  The authors opine that "[t]he need for all levels of prison education is great . . . .[H]igher education in prison is cost-effective and supports safety in prison and back in the community when people return from prison."  All three authors are board members of a nonprofit that supports the Goucher Prison Education Partnership in Maryland.
