Over the summer, the college’s alumni relations team has been working with Mason’s Alumni Association to establish a formal Alumni Chapter for the college’s family of alumni.

The chapter, still in its formative stages, will be a great way for alumni from across our many departments and programs to connect with other alumni and keep in touch with the college and Mason. Plans are in the making for the chapter to take the lead in some of the college’s established social events, like our Alumni Weekend beer tasting and the CHSS Tailgate during basketball season. In addition, the chapter hopes to bring even more social opportunities to all of our alumni, along with the chance to mentor current students and take part in college and university events.

Jason Reis, BA Economics ’93 and chapter president, sees the chapter as a way for our alumni to sustain and strengthen their relationship with Mason. “The college is the largest college in the university,” he explains. “Having an Alumni Chapter will make sure that our voice is a part of the conversation at the University’s Alumni Association, and it will keep our alumni more connected to Mason’s vision, mission, and goals.”

He emphasizes that the Alumni Chapter is not intended to supplant the role of individual departments’ alumni societies: “Within CHSS there are some majors with substantial societies. Our goal is to foster that while giving them a way to be aligned with the college and the university, and to engage all of our alumni with a personal connection.”

Please check in with the college’s site for updates on how you can become involved with the chapter. We welcome this exciting new group and look forward to working with the chapter into the future!
