CLS Advisor Stephanie Barnett Receives Award of Excellence

Stephanie Barnett, CLS Undergraduate Advisor, was awarded the College of Humanities and Social Sciences Outstanding Undergraduate Programs Support Award for 2014 at the annual Mary Roper Awards Ceremony.  In presenting the Award, Elizabeth Kalinowski, the CHSS Director of Advising, described Ms. Barnett as "a tireless advocate for students."

Ms. Barnett has been an Academic Advisor for CLS undergraduates for the past two and a half years.  As an advisor, she provides guidance and consultation for matriculated students, generates degree audits, recommends and establishes degree plans, assists students with academic concerns, and monitors student progress to ensure academic compliance.

In addition to her main responsibilities, Ms. Barnett maintains the website content for the CLS Undergraduate programs, provides admissions support at various events throughout the academic year, establishes CLS alumni outreach initiatives, and collaborates with fellow advisors across the university to support student success.  Ms. Barnett is an active member of the Mason Academic Advising Network and the National Academic Advising Association, as well as having served as a Mason Staff Senator and on various CHSS search committees.
