This course explores the theoretical and political dimensions of terrorism. It examines how terrorism is defined, its historical roots, the ideologies behind political violence, and the use of terrorism by both state and non-state actors. Emphasis will be placed on analyzing case studies, terrorist typologies, media influence, symbolism, and counterterrorism responses. Students will develop critical thinking skills and the ability to assess complex global security issues.
