Dr. Ryan Cotter is currently a deputy director of research at the United States Sentencing Commission (USSC).  In that role, Dr. Cotter oversees approximately 50 researchers, analysts, and programmers who produce analytical reports for the Commission, Congress, Federal Judges, and criminal justice partner agencies. 

 

Prior to the USSC, Dr. Cotter was the Director of Research for the Maricopa County criminal justice system in Arizona.  The Maricopa County criminal justice system is the fourth largest system in the U.S.  In that role, Dr. Cotter directed an advanced analytical unit that provided support to all criminal justice agencies: law enforcement, jail, probation, and courts.
