Mr. Basha is a retired member of the federal Senior Executive Service. He worked for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the U.S. Customs Service for over 36 years. Mr. Basha was the longtime Associate Chief Counsel for Enforcement, CBP’s principal attorney for enforcement matters. In this capacity he was responsible for providing legal advice to the Commissioner and other senior agency officials on the laws enforced by CBP, including the customs and immigration laws, anti-terrorism laws, drug laws, export control and embargo laws, and money laundering laws.
Prior to the creation of CBP, Mr. Basha served in a similar role as the principal enforcement attorney for the U.S. Customs Service.
Throughout his career, Mr. Basha worked on numerous federal cases, including many before the Supreme Court. He also worked on a multitude of major federal investigations and prosecutions.
