Practicum Enrollment Request
CRIM 517: Research Practicum in Justice Policy and Practice course enrollment is controlled and an approved enrollment request will be required to register for the course.
Our goal is to ensure that all students have a clear understanding of course expectations and an opportunity to start planning their project before adding it to their schedule. We understand that your project plans may change once you start the course and that you may not have a fully developed idea yet. The goal of this process is simply to help you prepare and set you up for success as you embark on your final academic milestone in the MS program.
CRIM 517 enrollment requests should be for your final semester in the program, or the preceding spring if you plan to graduate in a summer semester.
How to request enrollment in CRIM 517:
Step 1. Access the enrollment request form here. You will log in using your George Mason credentials.
Step 2. Complete all required fields, including your name, enrollment request term, and anticipated graduation details (semester during which you will complete the MS degree requirements).
Step 3. Upload an updated Program of Study form to confirm your degree progress. This should be updated the same semester that you submit the enrollment request to reflect all in-progress and previous/completed courses. Please feel free to send your updated Program of Study form to your advisor to review before uploading.
Step 4. Review your submission and submit. Before submitting, review all entered information and attached files to ensure accuracy and completeness. Once you are satisfied with your entries, navigate to the next screen, then sign and submit. After submission, you should receive a confirmation email.
Step 5. After your submission, the request routes to the Director of the MS Program for review and approval. After the Director approves, it will route to your advisor for final sign off. When your request has been fully approved, a registration override will be processed by your advisor, and you will then be able to add the course to your schedule in Patriot Web.
